But before going through the step-by-step instructions of downgrading your iPhone 3G from iPhone iOS 4.0, here are some reasons why you need to downgrade. Well, one reason could be your favorite apps still have not fixed the bugs in iOS 4.0. Another reason is it could be your iPhone 3G doesn’t function well with iOS 4.0 compared to your old iOS version.

Whatever reasons you have read carefully this article and remember to follow appropriately the steps and do it with caution. Again, this is very important! This downgrading is only applicable to iPhone 3G and not applicable to iPhone 3GS.

In preparation for the downgrading, get the restore file of the iPhone iOS 3.13, it could stored previously in your computer with you made the upgrading or if you cannot find it then don’t worry you can Google it or download it at www.iClarified.com (please see the video for the exact file). Another thing is you are required to download external software named Recboot at http://www.sebby.net/659-released-recboot-1-0-2/.

If the above-mentioned files and software are ready, let us start the downgrading process.

1. Connect your iPhone 3G to your PC or laptop and power it off by pressing the power button found at the top of your iPhone and slide to power off.

2. Hold down the power button and the home button simultaneously for 10 seconds. Then release the power button while still holding on the home screen for another 10 seconds. This will put the phone into device update firmware mode.

3. iTunes will pop up and automatically detects that you want to perform recovery. Click the devices on the left pane of iTunes and click iPhone. For windows computer, hold down the shift key and click on the restore button. iTunes wants you to locate the restore file and select it to start the restoration process which will take for probably 10 minutes. You will probably see an error message (watch the video for the error message), locate you Recboot software and click the Recboot recovery exit mode.  After that your iPhone has been downgraded already.
